I Got My Second COVID-19 Shot
(last week) And it sucked. A lot.
DAY 1: GETTING THE SHOT
The first part of the afternoon after getting the vaccine went by smoothly. I had lots of energy and felt good. Around 8PM, however, things started to change. I began to feel EXTREMELY TIRED and my head began to feel as if it had been stuffed inside a box with safety packaging and bubble wrap. Everything felt tight and I began to feel a little bit disoriented.
After eating a light meal I went to bed and then BOOM! The real pain and misery began.
DAY 2: AGONY
I woke up around 11:30PM, and I had the world's worst
headache migraine. Looking at ANY source of light hurt. Walking to the bathroom hurt. Moving through the living room hurt. Breathing hurt. Everything hurt. And the damn fatigue made it worse.
I slept for about 3 hours (if you can count 3 hours of sleep as “sleep”; it felt more like the world's worst nap since I kept going in and out of consciousness), and around 4AM I gave up on the idea of trying to get some rest and I ended up eating bread and drinking Pedialyte to make time go by a little faster.
Between 8-10AM I did some stuff I barely remember (I think I had breakfast or something like that; I honestly don't know and I promise this is NOT a joke) and I spent the entire day doing...I don't know what. I may have slept at various times throughout the day, but again, I was so out of it I can barely remember.
The migraine remained strong throughout the day and even small chitchat hurt. I could barely keep myself together, and it took a lot for me NOT to jump off the Mississippi river.
Around 1PM I do remember making vegetable stock soup for lunch and not to brag but that thing turned out SPECTACULAR. It was SO flavorful and cooked to perfection it actually made me feel better for about an hour or two. I honestly couldn't believe I made something so delicious and time-consuming while sick; the power hunger holds over people is truly incredible....
DAY 3-PRESENT: SICK AND TIRED OF IT...BUT I WOULDN'T TRADE IT FOR ANYTHING IN THE WORLD
I am STILL sick and there seems to be no end in sight. It has officially been ONE WEEK since I got my COVID shot and I have yet to feel better. I have a stuffy nose, a sore throat, fatigue, and a dry cough. My eyes are watery and I've thrown up phlegm twice.
I honestly don't know what else to add. Throughout the entire pandemic I didn't get sick ONCE, and right now I feel like complete and utter shit. Why are the symptoms staying for so long? Why won't they go away?
Overall, I feel very blessed to have had the opportunity to take the shot, and I feel much safer and happier knowing I have an extra layer of protection against this disgusting virus; but DAMN! I hate that the vaccine is giving me these awful symptoms. Despite my awful symptoms, however, I would STILL get it again if I needed to and I don't regret it.
Hope that explains my absence.
I will try to be back soon.
